As a young girl Eleanor was always drawing or painting. One day while looking for something in her garage, she
came across a wooden box filled with oil paints. The paints were old and used, but all those fabulous colors looked
like gems to her. Her father told her the paints belonged to her grandmother and said she could have them. At the
age of 16, with the addition of a few more tubes of color, that was the beginning of her career as an artist. That
same year she sold her first commissioned portrait.

Eleanor painted every chance she could. As a young mother having to support herself and children, she attended
Nazareth College to pursue studio art but later studied graphic design and illustration. This led to some wonderful
experiences as a graphic designer and technical illustrator working for corporations including Xerox, IBM, General
Electric and Art Director for a children's museum in North Carolina. However, throughout the years, her passion
remained with painting. Eleanor has the combination of technical training as a graphic designer and over fifty years
experience as a fine artist.

Artist’s Statement
“A painting brings the subject to life and it's a way for me to interpret a small part of the beauty in this world. I enjoy painting in several mediums
including oil, pastels and watercolor. People often tell me they feel they are in my paintings or standing right there. I believe this is one of the best
compliments an artist can receive. I have a fascination with the play of light on subjects and scenes that carry you off into the distance as far as the
eye can see. I particularly enjoy painting skies, water and places that inspire. For me, painting is very therapeutic and has helped me through some
difficult times in my life. I thank God every day for this gift.”

Eleanor offers classes to share her love of painting with others. Included in her subjects you'll find portraits of people, animals, homes, seascapes
and landscapes. Her art is enjoyed by clients in the US and abroad. If you'd like to commission a painting as a one-of-a-kind keepsake to cherish
forever, please contact the artist at
(910) 795-7425 or send an email to eleanor@davinstudios.com.. Gift Certificates are also available.
