I've been an artist just about my entire life. As a young girl I was always drawing or painting. One day while looking for something in the garage, I came across a wooden box filled with oil paints. The paints were old and used, but all those fabulous colors looked like gems to me. My father told me the paints belonged to my grandmother and said I could have them. At the age of 16, with the addition of a few more tubes of color, that was the beginning of my career as an artist. That same year I sold my first commissioned portrait. I painted every chance I could. Later in life, I decided to return to college to pursue graphic design and studio art. This led to some wonderful experiences as a technical illustrator and graphic designer working for corporations including Xerox, IBM, General Electric and Art Director for a children's museum in North Carolina. Even though I worked in the advertising art field, I never stopped painting and I have over fifty years experience as a fine artist. |

A painting brings the subject to life and it's a way for me to interpret a small part of the beauty in this world. I enjoy painting in several mediums including oil, pastels and watercolor. People often tell me they feel they are in my paintings or standing right there. I believe this is one of the best compliments an artist can receive. I have a fascination with the play of light on subjects and scenes that carry you off into the distance as far as the eye can see. I particularly enjoy painting skies, water and places that inspire. For me, painting is very therapeutic and has helped me through some difficult times in my life. I thank God every day for this gift. Included in my subjects you'll find portraits of people, animals, homes, seascapes and landscapes. I'm happy to say my art is enjoyed by clients in the US and abroad.
